I have two spiders living in my bathroom. It's nice to sit there and watch them. Usually they sleep. They are so still. It must be neat to sleep suspended in mid-air. Sometimes they do a bit of scurrying about. I delight in watching them as they manoeuvre around their gooey cords; I have always enjoyed acrobats; now I have a pair of eight legged ones living in my bathroom!

Perhaps you think I should be more adverse to spiders. As I contemplate the behavioural patterns of my spiders I see no reason to dislike them: they don't vomit on my food or swim in my coffee, they don't buzz around my ears, go splat in my eyes, or dig up into my nasal cavities; I have yet to be bitten by my insectivorous friends. It is decided: spiders are my new favourite arthropods.

Things that brighten my day:

-reading Bonnie's zany blog while doing menial office tasks (no Bonnie, YOU are a hero...can I be your pet poet?)
-listening to my roomate sing heavy metal hits of the 80's while he takes a shower.
-watching kids watch me as I work out ("whoa! look at him...","that's right kids, I can bench press 80 pounds!")
-saying "oiseaux oiseaux oiseaux oiseaux" (wah-zo wah-zo wah-zo wah-zo)

songs of hope

songs of hope
playing on the radio
just like karaoke
you learn the words as you go

songs of hope
played on your guitar
finding lost hallelujahs
that shine from star to star

it’s the tear that melts
the bitterness out of my voice

it’s the choice to love
every song we will ever write

it’s the light in your eye
that cut the cords in my heart

songs of hope… songs of hope

like the sound of church bells
after a lonely night at sea
like the taste of bread & wine
when you know what it really means

songs of hope…songs of hope
