Crazy dream last night…
I was Paul McCartney and the Beatles and I were in this cute little mountain town recording an album. We would loaf around the streets of this villa for hours just goofing off and hanging out. Ringo kept getting dissed by our producer so he was a bit mopey. We would cheer him up by taking him to this junkyard…my-my he would get so excited.
Sometimes I would get worried that we might break up so John and I would have a heart to heart talk. Him and I would also go on double dates with these two girls and for some reason or another we would be dressed up like Batman & Robin. Isn’t dat veird?

remember the poems we used to write
with fingers tracing
shapes of the light

you could still lift the prints of your finger
pressed firm
in the soft of my shoulder

where fingers pulled hands into their play
and the potter was formed
by the spinning clay

Here is song based on Psalm 40 -though, I don't know if "based" is the right word...perhaps you could call it a contemporary retelling...or maybe a personal response to Psalm 40...hmm.
I should also mention that a few phrases here are lifted from The Message, namely the couplets at the beginning of the first two verses.

"40"

Now God, don't hold out on me
Don't hold back your passion, love & truth
Cause you are all that keep me together
I pray you'll make it right with me

I waited & waited; I waited for the Lord
At last he looked; finally he listened
He drew me up out of the pit; pulled me from despair
He set my feet upon a rock, made my footsteps firm

He put a new song on the tip of my tongue
He knows I need a little help so he breathes into my lungs
He fills me up, like a cup, so the words -they overflow
I rejoice, lift up my voice, singing, "Great is the Lord!"

Rejoice! Lift up your voice. Sing: "Great is the Lord!"
How great is the Lord! How great is the Lord!

How can I say "thank-you" Father?
How do I respond to such grace?
What words won't sound empty?
What chord could ever fill this space?
