I must confess: I am a top-ten aficionado. Not only am I drawn to them, I also enjoy composing my own top-ten lists. And though we are well into 2006 I give you my favourite films of 2005, presented in top-ten fashion:

I should mention that I haven't seen a number of the "acclaimed" films that came out last year; you'll notice that Brokeback Mountain, Capote, and Munich do not appear on my list; man, I don't even know if I want to see Brokeback; I do want to see Munich.

I wonder why top-ten lists are so satifying (?) ...maybe it's because I'm part control-freak and it allows me to impose order on a chaotic world ("deep"). Well, in any case I hope you like my list(s). Feel free to give me your own...it could be top-five if you can't think of a whole lot of movies or it could be alphabetical if you find the tight ranking structure too constricting. I'm curious to know which movies were your favourites.

I received a benediction from a vending machine today. I had just bought a wunderbar when the words "GO WITH GOD" scrolled across the display screen. It was eery.

In other news...I rescued a little racoon tonight. It was stuck inside a dumpster, so I put a garbage can inside so it could climb out. I kept trying to coax it into jumping on the can but it was so petrified it could barely move. I had to leave it alone and let it figure it out on its own. I consider this my first great act as a security officer.
